This article describes how to install and set up one-click printing (ProPrint) on Windows workstations.
Requirements and Prerequisites
Step 3: Enable and Connect Provet ProPrint.
Step 4: Configure PDF Label Printing in Provet.
Step 5: Create Label Templates.
Step 6. Verify and Test Printing.
Provet ProPrint enables one-click printing, which allows you to print without opening the browser or operating system print dialogues.
With ProPrint version 1.0.0.1 or later, you can use network printing. This replaces the old requirement of installing ProPrint on every workstation. Now, you only need to install ProPrint on the computer that has the label printer connected. Other workstations print through the Provet ProPrint Server connection.
To use one-click printing for PDF labels, you must also configure the PDF label printing settings in Provet.
-
Operating system: Windows 11 or Windows 10 with .NET Framework 4.8. .NET Framework is usually installed with Windows. If it is missing, it is installed automatically when you start Provet ProPrint. Administrator rights are required for the installation.
-
Printer: The label printer must be installed in Settings > Printers & scanners on the computer where ProPrint is installed. Install the printer driver using the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
ProPrint installation:
-
In the network printing method, ProPrint only needs to be installed on the computer that has the label printer connected. Other workstations can print through the Provet ProPrint Server connection.
-
In the legacy method, ProPrint must be installed on every workstation where one-click printing is used.
-
Note
Administrator rights are required for the installation.
Note
Make sure that the printer driver is installed on the computer first using the device manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Go to Provet Downloads and download the ProPrint for Windows installer, which includes support for the network printing method. The installation package is saved to your computer.
-
Open the downloaded installation file (proprint-windows-install.exe) to start the installation. If Windows asks whether you trust the software source, select Yes.
-
Follow the installer wizard. Keep the default options (such as installation folder).
-
You can choose to create a desktop shortcut during installation. If you skip this step, you can create one later.
-
-
Select Install and then Finish to complete the installation.
Printing preferences such as paper size must be set in the Windows printer settings in Settings > Printers & scanners > open printer > Printing preferences.
-
Open the Provet ProPrint application.
-
Go to the Printer tab.
-
Select your label printer from the Printer drop-down list. The list of available printers is fetched from Windows. If the printer does not appear, check that it is installed in Settings > Printers & scanners.
-
In the Type field, enter a name for the printer (for example, LABELS, RECEPTION, or LAB). If you have multiple label printers, use location-based names to make them easier to identify.
-
Select Add printer.
-
Select the Network printing checkbox.
-
Select the Application Windows autostart checkbox. This ensures ProPrint starts automatically when the computer starts, which is required for reliable use in clinics.
Note
To enable this option, you need administrator rights on the computer. When selected, ProPrint restarts with administrator access, so this step must be done by a clinic admin or someone with admin permissions.
When the ProPrint installation and setup on the workstation are complete, continue in Provet to configure the connection:
-
Go to Settings & Integrations > Provet ProPrint.
-
Select the + ProPrint button. The client configuration window opens.
-
In Provet, copy the WebSocket URL and Configuration token.
-
Then open the ProPrint application on the workstation, and go to the Printer tab > Network Printing settings, and paste the values into the fields.
Note
You can also adjust the Queue wait time (s) setting that defines how quickly labels are printed. The default is 10 seconds, and the minimum is 1 second.
-
Save the client configuration in Provet.
-
Save the settings in the ProPrint application and restart ProPrint.
If you still use the legacy direct printing method, you can enable one-click printing under Settings > General for the clinic or in individual user accounts.
Once ProPrint is connected, set up label printing in Provet.
-
Go to Settings > Integrations > Label printing and click the pen button to edit settings.
-
From the Enabled label printing solution drop-down list, select PDF preview print.
-
Select the Add PDF printer button and give the printer a descriptive name such as RECEPTION or LAB so you can easily identify it when printing labels.
-
In the One-click printer type field, enter the printer type name you defined earlier in the ProPrint application. The name must match exactly (including capitalisation).
-
In the ProPrint location drop-down list, select the client configuration you created in Settings > Integrations > Provet ProPrint. If you only set up one configuration, only one option is available.
-
Set the correct label size for your printer.
-
Select Save.
Important: to print labels, at least one label template must exist in Provet. See Step 5.
After you have set up label printing, you must ensure that label templates exist in Provet. If they have not yet been created, you need to create them; if they already exist, you can edit them as needed. Note that at least one label template must exist in Provet before you can print labels.
-
In Provet, go to Settings > Integrations > Label Printing > Label templates.
-
Select Add to create a new template or edit an existing one.
-
Templates are based on label types such as medicine, lab sample, or food.
-
A single printer can be used for multiple label types.
-
-
Save the template.
For more information, see Label Templates.
-
In the ProPrint application, check that the status shows Provet connected. The status will only update after saving the client configuration and restarting ProPrint. If it still shows Not connected, recheck the WebSocket URL and Configuration token.
-
To verify the connection, print a test label from another workstation in the clinic.
-
For example, print a medicine label from a consultation or a lab sample label from a laboratory referral.
-
In the Print label drop-down list, select the printer name you defined earlier in ProPrint.
-
-
On the workstation with the printer connected, confirm that the print job appears in the Windows printer queue.
-
In the ProPrint application, open the Connection tab to see a log entry of the print job.
-
Check the printed label to confirm that the text is aligned and margins are correct.
-
If needed, adjust the label size in Windows Settings > Printers & scanners.
-
You can also adjust margins or resolution in the Provet PDF Label Printing settings.
-
For more about printing labels, see Print Labels. If there are any issues with label printing, see Label Printing FAQ.
If labels do not print correctly using the Provet settings, check the label size in the Windows printer settings. The menus may vary depending on your Windows version and language.
-
Go to Settings > Printers & scanners.
-
Select your label printer and select Manage.
-
Open Printing properties > Advanced > Printing defaults.
-
In the Paper size field, select the correct label size for your printer.
-
For example, for most Dymo medicine labels the typical size is Large Address 99012 (36 × 89 mm).
-
-
Save the settings.

"make sure that the Type of the printer in the Provet Cloud ProPrint configuration settings matches the One-click printer type in the PDF label printer settings (LABEL in the example below)."
Here we have found that it wont work with LABEL, we need to use the printers full name to get it to work.
