Create a Diagnostic Imaging Referral

If the diagnostic imaging features are enabled in Provet, you can create diagnostic imaging referrals on the consultation page. The referral is sent from Provet to the selected diagnostic imaging device's worklist.

Note

The consultation page is currently being updated. Some environments include both the new and the old version. This article covers how to create a diagnostic imaging referral in both.

  1. Go to the Diagnostic imaging section:

    • New design: Select the Imaging tab and select + New diagnostic imaging.

    • Old design: Scroll to the Diagnostics section, find Diagnostic imaging, and select the + button next to the heading.

  2. In the dialog that opens, select the device you want to send the referral to from the Equipment list.

  3. Select the target areas — the parts of the animal to be imaged. The available workflow depends on your settings. You must complete all required selections for the referral to appear in the worklist. Procedures are added to the consultation automatically based on the device and target area settings.

    • Basic workflow: Select the target area from the Selected diagnostic list. Use the plus button to add more target areas.

    • Enhanced workflow: Select a category from the list below the selected equipment. The subcategories and projections for that category appear on the right. You must select the subcategories and projections — if you skip this step, the referral will not appear in the worklist.

  4. The Veterinarian assigned to the consultation is added automatically. You can change this if needed. You can also add Request remarks for the diagnostic imaging team and select a planned Date and Time for the referral.

  5. Select Save to create and send the referral to the worklist. The referral is sent to the diagnostic imaging workstation or device, and the team can proceed with the imaging process. Diagnostic imaging devices usually archive images automatically.

After saving, you can view the referral in the Diagnostic imaging section on the consultation page.

  • New design: Select the three-dot menu at the end of the referral row and select Edit or Print or email.

  • Old design: Select the pen button to edit the referral. You can also print or email the referral and select the information you want to include.
