This guide applies to clinics with Provet environments created before 16 March 2026. We are updating the handling and injection fee setup to make it more consistent and easier to manage across all environments. This guide explains what is changing, which settings are being retired, and how to update your configuration.
Note
If your Provet environment was created after 16 March 2026, this guide does not apply. See Handling and Injection Fees.
In the new setup, handling and injection fees are based on procedure items in your catalog. The price of the selected fee item is used as the default fee price, which can be overridden on individual items. Percentage-based fees will no longer be supported. For more information see Changes to Handling and Injection Fee Settings.
As part of the new setup, a new organization setting, Fee items inherit VAT from medicine, will be available under Settings > General > Organization settings. When enabled, handling and injection fee items will use the VAT rate from the linked medicine item instead of their own VAT group.
Before the old settings are retired, make sure your current setup follows the recommended configuration. This will ensure a smooth transition when the new settings take effect.
To configure handling and injection fees, you need the required permissions. See Handling and Injection Fees for details.
In the new setup, handling and injection fees are based on procedure items. Before updating your settings, create the items you want to use as fees and give them the prices you were previously using as your default fees, if you do not already have these. Note that fixed prices are required, percentage-based fees will no longer be supported.
For the smoothest transition, make sure both the fee item price and the default fee price in your settings are set to the same value before you contact support to start the migration. Until support enables the new settings for your environment, Provetuses the default fee price from your settings. Once the new settings are enabled, Provet uses the price from the fee item instead. Setting both to the same price ensures fees are charged correctly throughout the transition.
Example:
Create a procedure item called "Medicine Handling Fee" and give it the price you were previously using as your default handling fee, for example 10. Create a separate item called "Injection Fee" and give it your previous default injection fee price, for example 10. Then, in your settings, set the Default handling fee field to 10 to match the Medicine Handling Fee item price, and set the Default injection fee field to 10 to match the Injection Fee item price.
Handling fees
Go to Settings > General > Clinic location > Handling & injection Fees > Handling fees and confirm the following:
-
Handling fee calculation method is set to Fixed fee. If you are currently using a percentage fee, switch to a fixed fee before the migration date.
-
Handling fee method is set to Add fee as a separate row on the invoice.
-
A procedure item is selected in the Handling fee item field. Make sure the price of this item reflects the default handling fee price you want to use going forward.
-
The Default handling fee in the settings is set to the same price as the Handling fee item.
Note
The Maximum handling fee setting is not carried over during migration. After migration, you can set a maximum handling fee quantity per consultation or per calendar day in the new settings.
Injection fees
Go to Settings > General > Clinic location > Handling & injection Fees > Injection fees and confirm the following:
-
Injection fee type is set to Fixed fee.
-
Injection fee method is set to Add fee as a separate row on the invoice.
-
A procedure item is selected in the Injection fee item field. Make sure the price of this item reflects the default injection fee price you want to use going forward.
-
The Default injection fee in the settings is set to the same price as the Injection fee item.
You can also configure fees on individual medicine items. Go to Catalog > Items and update each item on the Pricing tab to specify whether it should use the default fee or a custom price. See Handling and Injection Fees for details.
Once you have completed the preparation steps above, contact Provet support to have the new handling and injection fee settings enabled for your environment.
After migrating, confirm that handling and injection fees are being applied correctly in consultations and counter sales.
The handling and injection fee settings under Settings > General > Clinic location > Handling & injection Fees have been simplified and updated. A number of settings are being removed, and the new setup replaces them with a cleaner configuration based on procedure items.
The following settings are being removed:
-
Use default fees (Enable default handling fee / Enable different handling fee for partial packages)
-
Handling fee calculation method (fixed fee or percentage)
-
Default handling fee
-
Default handling fee percentage
-
Injection fee type
-
Injection fee method
Instead, you will see a simplified set of settings where you select a procedure item as the fee. See Handling and Injection Fees for a full overview of the new settings.
The following changes are planned for an upcoming release:
-
Handling and injection fee settings will move to Catalog > Items > Handling & injection Fees to make fee settings easier to find and manage alongside your catalog items.
